Interests: I'm starting a PhD program at UM and I know absolutely no one here! I've spent my first week and a half buying furniture for my apartment and now I want to meet some people and have some fun :) I've lived in Boston for the past 8 years teaching high school.
Favorite Books: Anything by: Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, James Joyce, Peter Carey, Austen, Shakespeare (yes), Bill Bryson, Douglas Adams... books: Catch-22, Crime and Punishment, Bridget Jones's Diary, Clockwork Orange, The Plague, Vanity Fair, etc. etc.
Favorite Movies: The Shawshank Redemption, Inception, Overboard, Breakfast at Tiffany's, How to Steal a Million, Casablanca, Igby Goes Down, Snatch, I heart Huckabees, Muriel's Wedding, Fight Club, X-Men First Class, etc.
Favorite Music: Not country.
Favorite Sports Teams: BOSTON! Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Pats.
Favorite TV Shows: The Golden Girls (have you watched it recently? Give it another try. You are in Miami after all), Law & Order, Tosh.0, Daily Show, anything where someone is helped/made better by the end: Intervention, Hoarders, Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss, any HGTV show where they make a crappy house look nice, etc.
Favorite Web Sites: uh...
Other Favorites: I like cats better than dogs. Modern decor and not traditional. Movies & Books where you're left disturbed, not comforted.
